My Shirt Blue

Okay. I finally succumbed to peer pressure and created a blog. I must say that I feel incredibly foolish doing this. It is shocking to me that anyone would want to read what I have to say, but I will post it anyway.

I have titled my blog "My Shirt Blue" because it is the first three word sentence that Charlie has ever said. My son is five years old and was diagnosed on the autism spectrum last year. I was just reflecting that in May of 2008 Charlie had only three words "eat, drink, bye bye." This year he has over 250 words and has started using two and three word combinations. What a year.

My daughter Madeline is six years old and she has really started to take Charlie under her wing. Tuesday we were waiting in the car after Madeline's allergy shots and she started playing this game with him. She would tell him to say "Yes" and then she would kiss him on the cheek. He loved it and would echo her and then laugh when he got his kiss. The interaction was priceless and just what I have been praying for this past year.

I am hoping that this blog will be the catharsis I have been needing. I promise not to make it all about my children and autism, but they are such a large part of my life, I might not be able to help it. Who am I kidding, they are my life, but that is just the way it has to be now.
